Mental and Emotional Illness Impacts Us All
Population studies show that at any point in time, 10 to 15 percent of children and adolescents have some symptoms of depression.
In 2005, it was estimated that 3.4 million American Children and adolescents have clinical depression.
One in 25 children suffer with Separation Anxiety Disorder to the degree that the parents and the children are held hostage.
Autism spectrum disorders are now diagnosed in 1 out of 150 children nationally.
These statistics are overwhelming and regardless of the diagnosis or how the behavior is demonstrated, the results, if left untreated, are the same- destruction of the child and damage to the families and communities in which they live. |
Devereux Cleo Wallace
For the last 65 years the Devereux Cleo Wallace Center (DCW) has been providing help and hope for children ages 8-21 who have depleted all other options. DCW specializes in providing individualized care for children and adolescents that have significant mental health needs. The children we serve come from all economic, social, religious, and cultural backgrounds. Mental and emotional illnesses, as with physical illnesses such as cancer, does not discriminate. We have all heard stories of, or have experienced through family or friends, the devastation of everyday life that occurs when a young child or teenager is struggling with mental and/or behavioral challenges. These challenges may be due to Autism, mental health disabilities, substance abuse, hurting themselves, histories of running away, breaking the law, and contemplating suicide or aggression.

Broomfield Event Center
 Devereux Cleo Wallace and the Broomfield Event Center have teamed up to create Zone 33. Zone 33 honors the volunteer hours Rage Goalie Scott Reid, #33, devotes to the children at DCW and is our way to show our heartfelt appreciation to all of our Alliance Members.
