New post helps organization stay ahead of changing trends in child welfare

Port St. Lucie – Devereux Community Based Care congratulates Suzie Kulscar for her recent promotion to Quality Management Special Projects Supervisor.

The newly created position will give Devereux CBC a finer understanding of data trends and help the organization respond better to changes that shape performance measures – and ultimately the experiences of children and families receiving services through the child-welfare system.

Kulscar, who will lead a data team of four, has more than 12 years’ experience working in quality management and has represented Devereux CBC as chair of the Human Trafficking Coalition of the Treasure Coast and Okeechobee since 2016.

A graduate of Northeastern University with a master’s degree in non-profit management, Kulscar began her career in residential and clinical services.

“Suzie’s enthusiasm and attention to detail make her a perfect fit for this position,” Devereux CBC Director of Quality Management Rusty Kline said. “Her work will give us a better look at the job we’re doing as an agency and what improvements we can make to improve services for children.”

Kulscar’s promotion is among several new hires at Devereux CBC, which expanded its use of foster homes in 2017 and finished its fiscal year with reduced expenses in higher-cost programs like residential group care.

Kandace Trodglen joined Devereux CBC in October in the newly created post of behavior health specialist, and this week, it was announced that Caitlin Wescoe will begin work in January as caregiver and post-adoption specialist.

Wescoe’s role will expand the agency’s caregiver support program to better assist and support relatives, non-relatives and families who have recently adopted.
