Foster Parents Rock at Lyngate Park

Port Saint Lucie – Celebrate National Foster Care Month by joining PSL Rocks and Devereux Community Based Care for a special rock-painting event at 10:30 a.m., May 6, at Lyngate Park, in Port St. Lucie.

"We'll supply the rocks and paint - you bring the talent," said Christina Kaiser, community relations director for Devereux Community Based Care, the nonprofit organization that oversees the child-welfare system in Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie counties.

"We hope to see a lot of foster-parent messaging come through on the rocks," Kaiser said, adding that messages might include notes of encouragement to existing caregivers, fun facts about foster care or where to learn more about becoming a foster parent. "We want people to find and re-hide these rocks - and learn a little about foster care - for a long time to come."
