Devereux CBC Chief recognized for leadership

Orlando – Devereux CBC Chief Executive Officer Carol Deloach received the Jim Strayer Leadership Award earlier this month in Orlando during a statewide conference of the Florida Coalition for Children.

"The award is given annually to a leader in child welfare who demonstrates the commitment to excellence, the vision, gentle leadership style and the love and compassion for troubled children and adults that so characterized Jim Strayer, the man," said Kurt Kelly, president of the Florida Coalition for Children, a membership organization that advocates on behalf of Devereux CBC, its sisters lead agencies and service providers.

Carol Deloach is all of that, said the staff who nominated her for the award.

"We're proud to nominate Carol Deloach for this award in recognition of her outstanding leadership and life-long commitment to the well-being of children and families and for her tireless efforts to improve child-welfare services in Florida," said Nicky Smith, director of grants and organization development and learning.
Ms. DeLoach was instrumental in creating two Community Based Care Lead Agencies in the state of Florida.  She has a proven track record of creating and maintaining child welfare operations throughout the state of Florida, is one of the most respected individuals in the child-welfare industry and is considered one of the state's resident experts with regard to
child-welfare issues.

"She's a force to be reckoned with and gentle at the same time," said Christina Kaiser, Devereux CBC director of community relations. "She doesn't mince words, but she's always kind - you just want to follow a person like that."
