Exhibitors needed for 2016 Storybook Forest

Stuart - The creators of this year’s Storybook Forest are ready to turn the page and begin a new tale of early learning in 2016 – but they need the help of local vendors to get things started.

“We’re taking applications from any children’s services providers who want to have a booth at this year’s event,” said Loretta Toth, chairperson for the 2016 Storybook Forest Committee.

The event, set from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. January 23 at Stuart’s Flagler Park, is hosted by the Early Learning Coalition of Indian River, Martin and Okeechobee, Devereux Community Based Care, Camelot Community Care and the Guardian ad Litem program.

Committee members hope to have at least 20 booths, each sporting a different storybook theme and related children’s activities.

About 200 people attended this year’s event, which was done in celebration of Children’s Week and National Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month. Both normally are observed in April.

The 2016 celebration of Children’s Week, however, was moved to January to coincide with next year’s early Legislative Session.

"Storybook Forest was a tremendously successful event, and we look forward to doing it again," said Christina Kaiser, community relations director for Devereux CBC and committee member. “For us, it was a great opportunity to recruit potential foster parents, and we’re eager to reach more people in the coming year.”
