Local Businesswomen Team Up to Collect School Supplies for Children in Foster Care

A local duo of businesswomen are teamed up this summer to raise money for school supplies for children served by the Devereux Community Based Care foster-care system.

Kristen DiNonno and Robin Hatfield Osborn used the online crowd-fundraising platform Youcaring to raise money through the month of July. The team then used the money to purchase books from Usborne Books and book bags from Thirty One Gifts.

DiNonno, who works for Usborne Books, the UK-based children’s books publisher, said she reached out to Hatfield after seeing her Thirty One Gifts posts on a local homeschooling site.

“My company encourages book drives because literacy is so important to us,” DiNonna said. “So I messaged her to ask if she would be willing to team up for a book drive.”

Hatfield, who follows Devereux CBC on Facebook, agreed and suggested the non-profit as the benefactor.

All purchases were given to Devereux Community Based Care, which coordinates and oversees the local child-welfare system.
