Devereux CBC Collects School Supplies for United Way's Stuff the Bus

Devereux Community Based Care of Okeechobee and the Treasure Coast invites the community to “Stuff the Bus” from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 18 at the Port St. Lucie Wal-Mart on US Highway 1.

The event, now in its 11th year, is part of the United Way of St. Lucie County’s School Supplies for Students drive, which collects paper, pencils, crayons and other school supplies for needy children from the parking lots of St. Lucie County Wal-Mart stores. Devereux CBC, which will host the U.S. 1 site, will receive enough supply-stuffed backpacks for 250 children in the foster-care system.

“This is an important event for us,” said Christina Kaiser, Devereux CBC director of community relations. “We receive the bulk of our school-supplies donations for foster children through this project.”

Stuff the Bus is part of the larger United Way of St. Lucie County School Supplies for Students drive, which combines the efforts of several local businesses and non-profit organizations to collect supplies for children throughout St. Lucie County.
