Devereux Beneto Programs & Services |
The Devereux Beneto Center specializes in the treatment of children, teenagers, and young adults with emotional and psychological challenges ages 4 to 21, depending upon the program. Devereux Beneto includes residential treatment programs at the Brandywine and Mapleton campuses; an accredited day school; community-based services; treatment foster care and an inpatient psychiatric hospital. Diagnoses served include:
- Disruptive behavior disorders including, conduct, oppositional defiant, attention deficit hyperactivity, post-traumatic stress, intermittent explosive and affective disorders.
- History of sexual/physical abuse, school refusal, psychotic symptoms and fears/anxieties interfering with social functioning.
- Moderate to severe psychiatric disorders
- Neurological impairments
- Developmental disabilities, pervasive developmental disorders & Aspergers
- Dual diagnosis- behavioral or psychiatric diagnosis with mental retardation
- Mild to Moderate MR (Acute/hospital)
- Borderline MR to superior intellectual functioning (residential programs)
Residential
Brandywine is located in Glenmoore, PA and provides residential, clinical, and educational services to males ranging in age from 6 to 18 with behavioral and emotional disorders, including thinking impairments, self-destructive behaviors and defiance to authority. Brandywine also serves the pervasive developmental disorder (PDD) and juvenile delinquent populations. Because the intellectual level of Brandywine students varies widely, each student receives specially tailored educational instruction and therapeutic intervention. The Sanctuary Model is implemented on campus and therapeutic recreation is provided through life skills training, participation in organized team sports, and swimming. Youth may also canoe or fish on a stocked 2-acre lake located on the 350-acre Brandywine campus. The Brandywine program offers a 12-month pre-vocational/academic program on campus, which has been approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
Mapleton is located in Malvern, PA and provides residential treatment to 75 clients, male and female, ages 12-18, with borderline to high intellectual capacity in a variety of open residential/cottage settings on the main campus of the Mapleton program. There are group therapy tracks including Conflict Resolution, Social Skills, Activities of Daily Living, Team Building Skills and Dialectical Behavior Therapy that supplement the individual, group, and family therapies offered. The program offers a range of opportunities for individuals to stabilize problematic patterns and transition to less intensive levels of care. The Mapleton programs also offer a 12-month academic program on campus which has been approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Mapleton offers several recreational activities including cooking, intramural sports, tennis courts, miniature golf course, pool, obstacle course and a gymnasium.
Acute Unit
The Children’s Behavioral Health Center is a 33 bed acute inpatient psychiatric hospital located on the Mapleton Campus is for children and adolescent males and females ages 4 to 18 in need of stabilization while in psychiatric crisis. The program services include psychological, psychiatric, psychopharmacology, group/family therapy, special education, substance abuse education and counseling, therapeutic recreation, and clinical case management. The Children’s Center has recreational rooms on each wing as well as rooms for arts and crafts.
Community Day School
Beneto Day School is located in Downingtown, PA and provides educational and therapeutic services in a co-educational environment to students ages 5 to 21. Youth with cognitive and academic functioning levels that are below, above, or commensurate with their chronological ages are considered for enrollment. The Day School is licensed to educate students who have a diagnosis of social/emotional disturbance or neurological impairment. Diagnoses served include mood, anxiety, attention, disruptive behavior, adjustment, and mild pervasive developmental disorders as well as Tourette’s and Asperger’s syndrome.
Community Services of Chester County is located in Phoenixville, PA, and offers the following programs: Intensive Case Management, Resource Coordination, and Family Based Mental Health Services, Student Assistance Program, School-Based Mental Health Services in addition to standard outpatient psychiatric and psychological treatment. All programs are state licensed and JCAHO accredited and accept both PA Medicaid and Commercial funding.
Treatment Foster Care in Philadelphia delivers foster care services to boys and girls ages 6 18 years old, with severe emotional and behavioral disorders, who may be at risk for residential placement.
