Melanie Beidler selected to join RCPA Children’s Steering Committee

Melanie Beidler, M.S.
Devereux vice president of operations – children’s services

Mel Beidler, Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health vice president of operations – children’s services, was recently selected to serve on the Rehabilitation and Community Providers Association (RCPA) Children’s Steering Committee.

RCPA represents providers of health and human services – like Devereux – who are committed to effective, efficient and high-quality care. The Children’s Steering Committee, which is comprised of 20 leaders from the organization’s member agencies, is dedicated to prioritizing the quality of care for all children’s services across Pennsylvania.

Beidler was selected to join the committee as a result of her expertise overseeing Devereux Pennsylvania’s programming for children and adolescents, which is focused on the care, education and treatment of children and adolescents with emotional, behavioral and cognitive differences.

“I am excited to serve on this RCPA committee, to represent Devereux and to continue advocating for our youth,” said Beidler. “As one of the largest and most advanced behavioral healthcare organizations in the country, it’s important that we have a seat at the table and have the opportunity to participate in the decision-making process, as the committee advocates for policy, regulatory and legislative change.”

About the Children’s Steering Committee …

The RCPA Children’s Steering Committee is responsible for setting priorities and goals that align with local, state and national initiatives. Committee members are selected for their ability to prompt change and provide technical support to children’s services providers throughout the Commonwealth.

“Mel was asked to join this RCPA committee because of her extensive experience with children’s services delivery and executive oversight of programming that meets the unique needs of youth and their families,” said RCPA Children’s Division Director Robena Spangler. “Her knowledge and expertise with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) programs and services will enhance the committee’s ability to support and advocate for quality I/DD services in the state.”

Beidler’s other advocacy roles

In addition to the Children’s Steering Committee, Beidler is a member of RCPA’s Children in Congregate Care-Pediatric Care workgroup. She is also on the board for the Pennsylvania Council of Children, Youth and Family Services.
