Therapeutic Foster Family
Qualifications
- Sense of humor.
- The stable family unit, as a whole, is committed to providing foster care and welcoming new members to the household.
- Posses great conflict resolution skills.
- The family is financially self-sufficient, preferably has a stay at home parent.
- Experience working with children in behavioral health a must.
- The ability to promote self-esteem, family relationships, and cultural identity.
- Experience and desire to work as a "team" player.
- The ability to identify and mobilize community resources to help the individual reach their goals.
- A willingness to open your lives to an array of helpful agencies.
- Applicant must be at least 21 years of age.
Job Responsibilities
- Adhere to the guidelines in the Devereux Arizona Professional Foster Family handbook and the DES Foster Home Agreement.
- Care for, protect, guide, and nurture the individual placed in your home.
- Ensure the basic needs for food, shelter, and clothing are met.
- Actively participate as a valuable treatment team member; may include all or some of the following:
- Meet developmental needs and address developmental delays.
- Weekly documenting of individual's progress.
- Attendance and participation in staffings.
- Share and receive feedback from other team members.
- Notify your licensing Specialist of any changes in family status.
- Continued development of skills by attendance at advanced trainings.
- Participate in quarterly support group meetings.
- Advocate on behalf of the individual.
- Transport individual to meetings/therapy.
- Offer recreational opportunities and teach independent living skills.
- Work cooperatively with the family of origin if that is part of the treatment plan.
