April is Autism Awareness Month

Through your gift, you are contributing to our mission to unlock and nurture human potential in people living with emotional, behavioral or cognitive differences.

April is Autism Awareness Month. As more children are being diagnosed with ASD than ever before, Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health stands at the forefront to support individuals diagnosed with ASD - and their families - in the development of communication, social and independence skills needed to realize fulfilling, productive and socially connected lives.

“Autism Awareness Month is an important avenue for community education. As the number of individuals with autism we interact with on a daily basis increases, it is critical that our communities continue to learn more about autism - and the amazing potential individuals with autism possess,” explained Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health’s Executive Director of Autism Services Dr. Todd Harris.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about one in 68 children in the United States has been identified with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In addition, ASD is about 4.5 times more common among boys (one in 42) versus girls (one in 189).

"Devereux has positively changed my life."
