January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month
Through your gift, you are contributing to our mission to unlock and nurture human potential in people living with emotional, behavioral or cognitive differences.
January is National Human Trafficking Awareness Month and Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health wants to bring awareness to this issue and stand by the victims of this crisis. The Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children is a global scourge with very serious impact in the U.S. In fact, the FBI estimates more than 100,000 American children, 98 percent of whom are girls, are being trafficked in the U.S. today.
Devereux is one of the few behavioral healthcare organizations providing sophisticated treatment for youth from around the country who have experienced emotional, physical and sexual trauma. We are the provider of choice, nationwide, in supporting trafficked childhood victims on their path to healing meeting their unique needs through trauma-informed, evidence-based clinical therapies, delivered in a compassionate and supportive environment.

For many, the holidays are the most wonderful time of the year, but all the excitement can take a toll on children. Taking a few moments to teach our children about generosity and resilience may help prevent any disruption that can wreak havoc during what should be a joyous time for families.
Congratulations to Dr. Lisa Thomas, Devereux Center for Effective Schools consulting and research psychologist, who was the first recipient of the Association for Positive Behavior Support’s (APBS) “Ted Carr Early Career Practitioner Award.”
