Devereux N.J. receives large donation of personal hygiene supplies from Autism N.J.

Thanks to Autism New Jersey and Amazon, Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health New Jersey was the recipient of a large donation of personal hygiene products – more than 1,300 items! – that will be used to support the individuals it serves every day.

The donation was part of Amazon’s fulfillment donations, which were then given to Devereux New Jersey by Autism New Jersey, a partnering organization. The products will be distributed to Devereux New Jersey’s many group homes and vocational centers throughout the Garden State.

“We are beyond thrilled and grateful for Autism New Jersey’s generous donation, and we know each and every item will be put to good use,” said Devereux New Jersey Executive Director Brian Hancock

A partnership leads to a donation

Recently, Autism New Jersey was the recipient of an Amazon fulfillment donation that included household and personal items, from kitchen and bath cleaners, to shampoo and soap. Because the two organizations have a close partnership, Autism New Jersey passed on the supplies to the Devereux team.

Devereux New Jersey Vocational Coordinator Tommy Clark transported the supplies the nonprofit’s vocational program, where staff – and individuals with emotional, behavioral and cognitive differences -- sorted products by type and gender. The supplies, which were disseminated to the group homes and vocational programs based on need – included:

  • 492 bars of soap
  • 233 tubes of toothpaste
  • 104 bottles of soft soap
  • 126 bottles of body wash
  • 97 bottles of shampoo
  • 53 bottles of lotion
  • 216 deodorant sticks
  • Electronic items, including a few tablets

“This donation was such a wonderful surprise! The individuals we serve were so excited because they had never seen so many products of this type in one location,” said Clark. “They took the time to carefully sort the products and count all items. They also took pride in knowing that the donation will help all Devereux New Jersey individuals with their daily living training and goals.”
