Devereux Glenholme Honors Employee Jean Hough

(Washington, CT)

Gary Fitzherbert and Jean Hough WASHINGTON - The Devereux Glenholme School recently celebrated employee Jean Hough's 80th birthday and her continued dedication to making a positive impact in the lives of the school's children.

Staff and students gathered February 12 in the dining hall to surprise and honor Mrs. Hough.

Executive director Gary Fitzherbert praised Mrs. Hough's dedication.

"Mrs. Hough is one of the most caring individuals I know and that is why everyone loves her," he said.

Mrs. Hough, a resident of Washington Depot, has been working at Devereux Glenholme for six years.

She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, where she majored in nursing and minored in education, with a BSN degree.

While serving as school nurse and teacher of vocational education of the Shepaug Valley School District, she worked part time as staff nurse at New Milford Hospital.

After her retirement in 1989, she continued to serve others by becoming a part-time employee of the Devereux Glenholme School in 1999, working as a teacher-aide, while volunteering at New Milford Hospital once a week.

Mrs. Hough currently works in the school's Tender Learning Care Program working with children between the ages of 5 and 10 with varying levels of academic, social and behavioral difficulties.
