2014 Mansfield University Alumni Citation Award

Ms. Fallon-Walsh, M.A., N.C.C., is the 2014 recipient of the Alumni Citation Award.

Ms Walsh portraitThe Alumni Citation Award, established in 1969, recognizes contributions to society through professional, civic and philanthropic work and leadership activities. While a student at Mansfield, Ms. Walsh was a member/officer of Alpha Sigma Alpha, Delta Tau Gamma, Kappa Delta Pi, a peer counselor/advisor, and a member of the Young Democrats active in the Robert Casey gubernatorial campaign. She was also a volunteer at the Blossburg Diagnostic Center working with adolescent males diagnosed with conduct disorders and was the Criminal Justice Department’s student representative working with the Philadelphia Police Department in training for Forensic/CSI investigations. She received her BS in Criminal Justice/Psychology from Mansfield, and earned an MA from Marywood University, Scranton, PA in Community MH/MR Counseling. She also holds a certification in Business/Health Care Administration. In addition to her academic accomplishments,
she holds clinical certifications as a national certified Mental Health Counselor and Behavioral Analyst.

Since 1982, Ms. Walsh has been employed by the Devereux Foundation, Villanova, PA. She currently serves as the Executive Director of Statewide Operations for the Devereux Foundation’s New Jersey Treatment Network. Founded in 1912, Devereux is a leading nonprofit behavioral health organization operating a comprehensive national network of clinical, therapeutic, educational, and employment programs and services that positively impact the lives of tens of thousands of individuals and families every year. The primary goal is to empower children and adults with intellectual, emotional, developmental, and behavioral challenges to lead fulfilling and rewarding lives. Prior to accepting this position, she served in several other Executive Leadership positions during her nearly 32 year Devereux career.

She has been honored with an array of recognition awards including the Peter M. Cicchino Lifetime Achievement Award presented to an individual whose career has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for vulnerable youth. She was the recipient of the Exceptional Parent Magazine, EP Maxwell J. Schleifer Distinguished Service Award bestowed to an individual who has displayed remarkable accomplishments and dedication in the care and advocacy of individuals with disabilities/under difficult circumstances. She was also granted recognition for outstanding contributions and services to the community by the Gloucester County, NJ Chamber of Commerce and was presented with the “Woman of the Year” Award from the Women of Gloucester County, NJ Professional Women’s Association. She recently received the NJ Senate & General Assembly Citation, presented by NJ State Senate President Steven M. Sweeney, for exemplary character & determination in supporting the local community and its strategic vision. Her Devereux career has been, and continues to be, dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with behavioral, emotional and intellectual challenges by ensuring they receive innovative and efficacious treatment. This is accomplished by bringing her energy, business acumen, expertise, strategic vision and hope into the National Human Services arena.

Ms. Walsh currently resides in West Deptford, NJ, with her husband William, who is an attorney/hearing officer for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Philadelphia.
