A Message from the Chairman of the Board
Devereux awarded new Community Based Care contract serving the Department of Children and Families Southeastern Region.
Carol and I have the great pleasure of announcing that Devereux has been awarded the new Community Based Care contract serving the Department of Children and Families Southeastern Region - Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee Counties. We want to particularly thank you for your support of the children and families in our community and would like to ask for your continued support.
As the Executive Director for Devereux Florida, I am pleased to be working with all of the children and families, as well as the staff at United for Families, DCF, our partner agencies and the community throughout this transition. Devereux has provided a broad continuum of services to children and families throughout the state of Florida for over 25 years, and for over 100 years on a nationwide basis. We were founded by Helena Devereux, a Philadelphia School teacher who was dismayed at the treatment of children with special needs and formed Devereux to serve this population. Founded in 1912, Devereux is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, providing programs and services that positively impact the lives of tens of thousands of individuals and families every year. Headquartered in Orlando, Devereux Florida provides a diverse array of behavioral healthcare, intellectual/developmental disabilities and child welfare services to children and families.
We look forward to the opportunity to meet you in the upcoming months. I have 30 years of executive experience in social services, child welfare and behavioral health. In addition, I was the founding CEO of the CBC in Gainesville Florida and have been with Devereux Florida for the last 5 years. As CEO of Devereux CBC of Okeechobee and the Treasure Coast, Carol Deloach has over 30 years of experience in child welfare, having been one of the founding members of two CBC’s: Heartland for Children and Brevard Family Partnership, and has led the development and ongoing operations of all of our child welfare programs at Devereux Florida. Our team is eager to work with all of you to strengthen the collaborative model of community base care and expand the community of support in our area.
In the upcoming weeks we will be keeping you informed of the progress we are making throughout the transition. We hope you will join us in celebrating this transition as it provides tremendous opportunities for you and the children in our community.
We would love to hear from you. If you have any concerns or comments, please email us at DevereuxFLCBC@devereux.org Also, if you would like to learn more about Devereux, please visit our website at devereuxlfl.org.
Steven J. Murphy,
