"DevPhonics" Puts on a Show for the Ladies and Gentlemen of Adult Services

The dedication of Devereux's staff to the individuals they serve transcends the day-to-day interactions and support of the children, youth and adults.

For 10 staff members at Devereux's corporate offices in King of Prussia and Villanova, who do not have the pleasure of working directly with our individuals each day, their passion takes the form of song through their singing group, "The DevPhonics."

The DevPhonics was first organized in September of 2010 as a tribute to Devereux’s retiring treasurer, Steven Mansh. The group so enjoyed the performance that they decided to continue, performing later that year at a meeting of Devereux’s Directors of Finance and at the annual corporate holiday party. Growing in musical confidence, the group reached out to Devereux’s centers in southeast Pennsylvania and performed for Pennsylvania Adult Services’ Winter Wonderland event as well as the 2012 Devereux Resiliency Conference, a day-long seminar for families of children with special needs organized by Marilyn Benoit, M.D., Devereux’s Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer.

The DevPhonics began their 2013 tour with a performance for Pennsylvania Adult Services on Thursday, March 7th from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the gymnasium of the Mendelson Center. One hundred individuals and staff from both campus and community programs attended the concert, which included two sets of six songs, with a brief break in between sets.  During this break, Rocco, one of the individuals of Adult Services, wowed the crowd with an amazing keyboard performance.  The DevPhonics has six more performances scheduled at Pennsylvania centers in the coming months.

Devereux salutes the DevPhonics and all the employees who go above and beyond to bring joy, self-fulfillment and personal accomplishment to the individuals we serve!
