Assistant Secretary Sheldon Visits Orlando Campus

Recently Devereux Florida’s Orlando Campus welcomed George Sheldon, acting assistant secretary of the Administration for Children and Families for the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. Assistant Secretary Sheldon visited the therapeutic residential living and treatment center to learn more about its services for kids aged 7-17 who have emotional and behavioral issues that require a secure setting. After meeting our team, he toured the facility led by several of the kids we serve, who
took pride in showing him the sensory materials used to guide Trauma Informed Care treatment activities. “It was inspiring to see Assistant Secretary Sheldon laughing and role playing with our kids,” says Devereux Florida Executive Director Steve Murphy, “His understanding of our mission and support for our work reinforced our team’s sense of pride and purpose.”
