Washington, CT - When Noah stepped in as Head of School on Thursday, March 29, the magnanimous leader was fully prepared to take on the challenges of his new role. After all, Head of School is not a career choice for the faint of heart; it requires patience, tact, grace, a sense of humor, and a great deal of energy and enthusiasm. At morning assembly, students and staff were greeted by just such a leader. Noah, who was well versed in the demands of Head of School, had big plans for the day and was eager to share them with the student body.

Noah first used his new powers to override the dress code, allowing students to wear comfortable Glenholme T-shirts, sneakers, and hats to school. He then announced that the students would be treated to a special lunch - an enormous buffet of pastas, sauces, and meatballs, accompanied by salad, garlic bread, soda, and an ice cream dessert. Most importantly, Noah proclaimed that there would be NO HOMEWORK that night! Naturally, this news was met with excited cheers and applause.

After a morning of announcing his executive orders, it was down to business for the new Head of School. With a particularly full agenda, Noah reviewed his to-do list and managed important phone calls from his new office. Then, he hopped into his executive golf cart, and was chauffeured around campus by his loyal staff. While making his rounds, he checked on the facilities, dropped in on numerous meetings, made surprise classroom visits, held a working meeting with a student in the Commons, walked the schoolhouse’s prized canine, Toby, and even found time to have lunch with some friends. All the while, Noah ensured that students and staff were happy and productive under his watch. He exercised authority with a sociable smile, a gentle hand, and generous helping of humor at just the right times. It was a great day for all!

Head of School for a Day, the most coveted Parents’ Weekend auction item, allows a student to take charge of the entire Glenholme campus for one full day. The winner of this much sought-after position gets to set rules, attend meetings, manage appointments, choose menus, plan activities, and use the prized executive golf cart. As this year’s Parents’ Weekend quickly approaches, everyone excitedly awaits the announcement of the next Head of School!
