The beautiful spring morning made it ideal for the hunters to count their treats around the gardens of Glenholme.
Washington, CT - Hippity, hoppity, hop! If it’s a bunny you want, Glenholme’s the spot! Each spring, The Glenholme School invites local families to campus to meet the Glenholme Hare and partake in a variety of fun, kid-friendly activities, with the suggested donation of a non-perishable food item. This year's Spring Hunt, held on Saturday, April 7, resulted in the biggest turnout of the event's eighteen year history. While enjoying the early spring weather, young children and parents took snapshots with the guest of honor, crafted their own bags, played games, and treated themselves to some delicious refreshments.

Shortly after 11:00 AM, the excited children made a wondrous dash for the spring eggs hidden throughout the campus gardens and fields. Afterwards, the happy hunters counted their treats, traded them for treasures, and returned to the activity tables for more crafts, face painting, and fun. After the many smiling faces departed from the school's grounds, Glenholme students were left with the satisfaction of another highly successful community event and an abundance of canned items for donation to a local charity.

A time-honored tradition since 1995, the Spring Hunt provides the ideal opportunity for Glenholme students to interact with local families while earning credits in the school's Community Service Program. Weeks before the special day, students devote their time to clearing the gardens and fields, filling the thousands of eggs, painting posters, and arranging craft projects. Through volunteer work, Glenholme students practice the positive values of caring, respect, responsibility, and community service, while improving their social skills, developing new perspectives, increasing their self-esteem, and building lasting friendships.

Happy Spring!
