Washington, CT - All too often parents are heard saying, “What am I going to do with my child this summer?”

This is a particularly important question for parents of students with special needs. As a therapeutic boarding school for young people ages 10 to 18, The Glenholme School opens enrollment for special needs students to join the current student population and expand their horizons during the Glenholme Summer Program. The Glenholme School's Summer Program not only captures the essence of summer fun, but also provides a platform for students to learn and practice valuable social skills. Through team development, and skill building activities, young people make new friendships, gain confidence, and learn to respect their fellow campers and staff. By actively participating in a positive and productive environment, students experience a newfound sense of community and belonging.

The 2012 Summer Program commences on July 8 and concludes August 24, with a minimum enrollment of three weeks. Throughout the Summer Program, a wide array of on-campus activities and “travel camps” are available to all participants. On-campus activities include visual arts, drama, music, team sports, go-karts, community service projects, and an equestrian program. During “travel camps,” students may visit locations such as Cape Cod, Mystic Seaport, and Williamsburg PA, or participate in enriching activities such as golf adventures, camping trips, or a western equestrian experience at a traditional dude ranch.
