Washington, CT - At The Glenholme School, each employee's professional development is considered a vital component of the program's evolution and success. At regularly scheduled training sessions, employees collaborate on new ideas, work through difficult questions, and hone valuable skill sets, so that they can best meet the changing needs of Glenholme's unique student population. This November, Glenholme’s education and boarding faculty members were once again challenged to think outside the box during a creative, hands-on training led by the Quantum Learning Network.

Co-founded by president, Bobbi DePorter, the Quantum Learning Network offers comprehensive research-based learning programs to educators, administrators, students, and parents. Since the launch of Quantum Learning's school programs in 1991, over 55,000 teachers have been trained in Quantum Learning methods, with approximately eight million students benefiting as a result. The programs aim to help schools create positive, supportive environments where learning is fostered and reinforced - a mission that dovetails perfectly with Glenholme's use of Positive Behavior Supports.

The week-long training was delivered by the energetic Christian Rauch, who incorporated music, color, and movement to encourage active involvement and retention. Faculty members were taught visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning strategies, how to initiate positive changes to increase student engagement and achievement, and “The 8 Keys of Excellence,” which support the school's core character values. One seasoned faculty member raved, “Quantum Learning has empowered me to enhance my teaching methods.” A boarding staff member noted, “I’m really looking forward to taking what I've learned and using it in the cottage.”

The Glenholme School is a therapeutic boarding school for young people who are often considered fragile and complex, diagnosed with Asperger's, ADHD, PDD, OCD, Tourette's, depression, anxiety as well as learning differences.
