Washington, CT - Soccer, one of the most popular sports in the world, is most certainly a favorite co-ed activity at The Glenholme School. Both male and female students benefit tremendously from playing this dynamic team sport - with increased school spirit, teamwork, morale, fitness, discipline, and self-esteem being just a few of the rewards that follow.

Midway through the 2011 soccer season, the co-ed Glenholme soccer team continues to demonstrate their determination as a unit. They have faced a number of well-organized squads that have challenged their soccer skills and their ability to think on their feet. At the October 11 game against Grove School, spectators watched an intense display of talent and endurance, where control of the ball bounced back and forth between teams, giving both sides the opportunity to make the game-changing goal. Although the Grizzlies played their best and the fans on the sidelines continually cheered with support, the outcome was decided by a Grove penalty kick in the final minutes of regulation time. Despite the 0-1 loss, the team rallied together and expressed determination to prevail in their upcoming games against Maplebrook and Woodhall.

The interscholastic sports program at The Glenholme School is designed to foster health and wellness, while building school spirit, teamwork, and strong friendships. By actively participating in competitive sports, including soccer, basketball, tennis and softball, Glenholme students learn the importance of hard work and become more confident in their own abilities.

The Glenholme School is a therapeutic boarding school for young people who are often considered fragile and complex, diagnosed with Asperger's, ADHD, PDD, OCD, Tourette's, depression, anxiety as well as learning differences.
