Washington, CT - Every parent strives to be involved in his or her child’s education to the fullest extent possible, and yearns for a glimpse into their child's daily life at school. They may wonder: Who is my child's favorite teacher? Where is his or her desk? What subjects is he or she struggling with, or excelling in? What did he or she learn about today?

On Friday, October 14, Glenholme parents, many of whom were new to the school, were welcomed into the schoolhouse for their own glimpse into the school's academic program. At the 2011 Education Open House, one of many informative events offered during the year for Glenholme families, parents met their child’s teachers, learned about their child’s curriculum through SmartBoard productions, displays and presentations, and shared their goals for their child.

At Glenholme, parental involvement is viewed as a basic tenant of an effective treatment program, and positive parental engagement is encouraged at all levels of school life from academic programs to daily activities. Parents often provide insightful contributions, which help to strengthen academic and social programs, both for their child and for the Glenholme community at large. Through regularly scheduled events, including open houses, gatherings, and training sessions, Glenholme encourages and promotes a collaborative environment between parents and faculty, creating the positive relationships essential to supporting each child’s total development.

At the next informative event - the Residential Open House - parents can learn more about Glenholme's residential program, meet their children's boarding faculty, and share their thoughts about their child's needs. We look forward to seeing you then, and at many collaborative events to come!
