Washington, CT - Academic aficionados had their curiosities quenched at Glenholme’s annual Academic Fair on Thursday, May 26, 2011. Awaiting everyone under an enormous tent in the courtyard was an astounding showcase of demonstrations, models, observations, experiments, and research projects in arts, sciences, mathematics, music and more.

After months of immeasurable effort theorizing, researching, experimenting, and collecting, the Academic Fair put students’ hypotheses and presentation abilities to the test as they offered their findings in fantastic fashion to family, friends and faculty. In addition to the presentations, several performances took place in the center of the tent. Jugglers Mike and Amy worked with Rebecca Silver for a demonstration in dexterity and concentration and later, Jake and Jack sang an encouraging song for their Music and Values project.

Glenholme believes the experiences gained through participation in the Academic Fair are essential to the educational development of students. By participating, students can not only gain new knowledge and skills, but also expand their educational experiences of the classroom. Academic Fair projects encourage students to design and complete projects which will promote critical thinking skills and foster creativity. This type of experience is crucial to the development of student knowledge and encourages them to work together in a cooperative manner with peers, teachers, parents and other individuals.

The Academic Fair is an all-encompassing experience for Glenholme students and supports many values of the school by promoting personal responsibility, respect for diversity, fairness of others, family involvement, and spirit of unity. Each year the campus anticipates the unparalleled educational event only the Academic Fair can provide.
