Washington, CT - Only an incurable extrovert like Jim Carrey could top the excitement of Saturday morning. In true comedic-style, he made a zany entrance into the lunch tent by zipping his way on a Segway through hundreds of students, parents, faculty and obstacles to find a home among the students on the only available performance space, the small stage at the head of the tent.

Mr. Carrey graciously addressed the crowd during lunch, joined the audience during a parent and child improv performance in The Center for the Arts, and even united with the students to take on the adults in the traditional parent vs. child softball game. His highly enthusiastic batting, base running, and fielding efforts not only entertained the crowd, but also helped to seal the most memorable win for his team in Parents’ Weekend history.

During the entire afternoon, Mr. Carrey was incredibly generous with his time. He gregariously signed autographs, posed for photos with students, parents and faculty, and even made a surprise contribution to the Live Auction later that evening in the form of an autographed stuffed penguin replica promoting his new movie, “Mr. Popper’s Penguins.” After personally arranging a group photo, Mr. Carrey addressed the students with words of encouragement. He advised them to “find what you love to do and make a career of it.” Later that evening, Mr. Carrey posted the group photograph on-line and tweeted: "Spent the day with my good friend Matt and his pals at The Devereux Glenholme School in Connecticut."
