Washington, CT - On May 14, the campus came to life with the excitement and energy of Parents’ Weekend 2011. Throughout campus, games and activities were set to a background of spring greenery and flowers in spectacular bloom. In a head-to-head competition, the students bested their parents in an intense game of basketball, and families enjoyed a student art show, caricatures, equestrian presentations and riding opportunities, and fitness exercises. Meanwhile go-kart races, Segways, rock climbing, and the zip-line provided entertainment for our more adventurous guests. In The Center for the Arts, student bands played original pieces and classic songs, students performed in a variety show, and parents and students joined forces for a truly entertaining afternoon improv performance. Later in the afternoon, with some very special celebrity support, the students secured a win over the staff and parent team in a lively game of softball.

Many families forged friendships during this special day on campus, as new parents were welcomed and guided by families who had experienced Parents’ Weekend in years past. Parents and faculty playfully competed and collaborated while bidding on items in the Silent Auction, all of which were generously donated by members and supporters of the Glenholme community. Generating an incredible $28,000 for The Center for the Arts, this year's Silent Auction had the single highest outcome in the seven-year history of Parents’ Weekend, and is a testament to the dedication of our families and faculty.
