Washington, CT - Glenholme’s Seventh Annual Parents’ Weekend began with an extraordinary student performance in The Center for the Arts coordinated by Arts staff Matt Delong, Bill Toy, and Rebecca Silver. Aptly titled “Celebration,” the show featured a collection of heart-felt songs, upbeat dances, and funny dialogue – all of which were an absolute pleasure to watch.

The curtain opened to reveal the chorus dressed in colorful, quirky outfits from every decade. As students pretended to insert coins into a large jukebox (manned by student Elias' alias, the smooth talking DJ “Dr. B”), the audience was met with a lively selection of songs from the 50s and beyond, including “Shake, Rattle, and Roll,” “Rock and Roll Is Here to Stay,” and “Don’t Stop Believin’.”

Countless solos and duets showcased student talent throughout the performance. Dressed as Glinda (the Good Witch) and Elphaba (the Wicked Witch) from the Broadway musical Wicked, student Jake and staff member Heather Perssonatti gave a truly flawless performance of the song “For Good.” Other highlights included the Men’s Singing Group’s renditions of the “Star Spangled Banner” and “America the Beautiful,” a fierce Elvis impression by student Matt, and “The Beatles in Review” – a lively medley with which the audience was encouraged to sing along. In between numbers, students Jessica, David, Amy, and Jordan read exceptionally written original poetry from Parent Appreciation Week and Poetry Appreciation Month.

As the perfect kick off to Parents’ Weekend, this performance was definitely worth celebrating!
