Washington, CT - Simply dazzling and delightful is the best way to describe the first Celebrating Character performance, “What Friends Are For,” by the young ladies of the Glenholme cottage. Bravely taking the stage as Act 1 of the character-oriented production series, these lovely young ladies faced an interesting challenge; learning a selection of songs that date back to the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s, many of which they never heard before.

They worked tirelessly for months practicing and planning a performance centering on classic songs of character including “That’s What Friends Are For” by Dionne Warwick and Friends, “The Rose” by Bette Milder and “My Boyfriend's Back,” by The Angels. The Thursday April 7 presentation of song and dance dazzled the audience of fellow students, staff and friends and filled the arts center with sounds of awe, laughter, cheers and applause.

Character education is an ongoing campus initiative committed to celebrating the character of the students and staff of Glenholme – the interesting, distinctive and truly delightful individuals from all parts of the world. Enjoyable character education activities such as our many arts performances remind us, we are all characters. And we are all welcome to join in.
