Washington, CT - In a celebration of jubilant songs for the holidays, the Glenholme School Choral Ensemble and the Shepaug Strings orchestra provided a sensational collaborative performance on December 21, 2010 for families, friends and faculty of the school.

The 60-minute performance opened with an instrumental segment by the Shepaug strings orchestra. The eleven member orchestra, which included seven string instrumentalists, as well as wind and brass musicians, performed three magnificent pieces before accompanying the 25-member Glenholme chorus in a three-song holiday sing-along with the audience members. The performance wrapped up with a spectacular choral segment from the Glenholme chorus which incorporated five festive holiday songs.

The moving instrumental and vocal performance celebrated the many joys of the holiday. During the sing-along selection of traditional holiday melodies the entire theatre resounded with a wondrous harmony from performers, along with special friends, faculty and guest of the school.

From symphony pieces to traditional holiday melodies, the acoustically designed theatre enhanced every moment of the performance with a softer, more natural sound for vocals and instrumentals alike. It was an astounding occasion in the Center for the Arts; the initial step for the school to connect with the community through joint Arts efforts.

“The dedication and generosity of our supporters made this momentous occasion possible,” said Glenholme Executive Director Maryann Campbell. “We look forward to a future filled with many collaborative arts efforts much like today’s performance with Shepaug Valley High School.”

As the holiday season winds down, the Glenholme Arts steps up their preparation for the next school performance in the Center for the Arts scheduled for the Spring of 2011.
