Washington, CT - The gym was jamming with arts excitement on the evening of Thursday, December 2. Novice and experienced vocal and instrumental students put on an amazing performance for a full house of fellow students and staff. The evening arts event spanned the musical realms from a capella to ensemble and solo instrumentals to a complete battle of the bands.

The first hour featured students who receive professional instrumental and vocal training while on campus. The instrumentalists showed off their talents with a few rock songs and harmonies. Building the excitement were several performers who coordinated their vocal and instrumental efforts for a few Broadway and pop music songs. It was the soloists who started to bring down the house with spectacular renditions of a handful of classic and pop tunes performed with synthesized support. Rounding out the hour was an ensemble sing-a-long performance of “Jingle Bell Rock” that really rallied the crowd and set the stage for the Battle of the Bands.

Contemporary songs, modern pop music, and original rock tunes by the three featured bands had the gym jamming with rhythmic hour of musical excitement. The Battle of the Bands is a new evening arts course that has proven popular with students. The seven performers were professional on stage and demonstrated enthusiasm and excitement for their first concert appearance of the school year.

It was a spectacular evening of music at Glenholme. We look forward to seeing students perform the Holiday Concert in the acoustically designed Center for the Arts on December 22.
