Washington, CT - Late last week, it was all grooming and glory for six students of the equestrian program. While the gloomy weather of November 5 urged them to change the gait of their outdoor program to an inside demonstration, they showed they can shine in any weather.

Four of Equestrian’s finest provided details of their winter lessons with knowledge, confidence and grace for a large group of family, friends and staff. Under the direction of Ms. Soto and the aid of two equine student assistants, the demonstration was flawless. It included proper grooming, catching a horse from a field, the correct manner to lead a horse, how to show in a halter class, and first aide for a cut. Throughout the demonstration, it was clear that an extraordinary connection exists between horses and humans.

These students showed confidence, teamwork and a sense of pride in caring for their equine friends. The building of these special bonds with horses acts as a powerful antidote for the students of Glenholme. While the program is drastically limited in the winter months in the absence of an indoor riding arena, this demonstration shows the incredible strides students can make in the equestrian program regardless of the weather.
