Washington, CT - Students of Glenholme’s Leadership Conference enjoyed a special session with Torrington Mayor Ryan Bingham on Wednesday July 28. A regular visitor to the Glenholme School, the mayor led the group of 16 students in a one-hour leadership exercise about the character traits that make a great leader. The students showed genuine enthusiasm for the topic at hand and shared their ideas willingly. It was evident as the exercise progressed, a strong sense of community evolved among the entire group.

As the exercise drew to a close, students engaged the mayor in an open question-and-answer session. They asked many thoughtful questions concerning the mayor’s personal experiences in a leadership role, success stories of public office, and early involvement in politics. His vitality as a young, successful public figure motivated everyone and in parting, he noted, “To be a great leader is to inspire others to do great things.”
