Washington, CT - Good character, dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. Without a doubt, qualities worthy of recognition. The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) honor our youth who fulfill these qualities with the Good Citizenship Award. Several students from area public, private and parochial schools were honored by the Judea Chapter of DAR in a May 11th ceremony at the Gunn Library in Washington, Connecticut. Amongst the honorees was the Glenholme School’s graduating senior, Alex Faeth.

Over the past four years, Alex has not only demonstrated the qualities of the Patriotism Award, he has encouraged others to find it within themselves. In just four short years, Alex has grown into a fine, mature young man who has always been willing to lend a helping hand, inquiry about your day, or simply share the baseball scores. His bright, caring personality lends itself well to his natural leadership abilities, which are evident throughout his everyday efforts.

Alex Faeth’s involvement in Glenholme’s Community Service Program is extensive. He has become a surrogate grandson to many who reside at the Candlewood Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center by making regular visits to their nursing home facility over the years. Alex has been a natural leader at managing the efforts of trail preservation at the Flanders Nature Center, inspiring enthusiasm for the Thanksgiving Basket food drive, participating in the senior citizen appreciation party, as well as campus clean ups, pop tab collections, Laws of Life, Hoops for Hope and card making.

It has been a privilege to watch Alex Faeth grow and flourish into such a remarkable individual. In just a few short weeks, he will graduate with Glenholme’s Class of 2010 and embark on a bright future where his positive attitude and compassion for others will serve him well.

The Glenholme School, a Devereux Center, is an exceptional boarding school for students with special needs, which offers an individually prescribed learning environment with a steadfast academic curriculum.
