Washington, CT - Inspiration is evidenced everyday as thousands with intellectual disabilities strive to compete and succeed at their dreams through the Special Olympics Connecticut (SOCT). On Sunday, February 28, six Glenholme students spent their day assisting at the 2010 Winter Games in Simsbury, CT; Allafia B, Diego M, Jake T, Harrison T, Andrew P, and Will S volunteered as athlete escorts for the various sporting events, including cross country skiing, snowshoeing, speed and figure skating. Along with their volunteer responsibilities, the boys were inspirational supporters for the athletes with exceptional encouragement throughout the competition. Their efforts earned them numerous commendations from SOCT committee members and supporters.

The Special Olympics Connecticut, a non-profit, charitable organization, has provided year-round sports training and athletic competition since 1969. Currently, SOCT hosts more than 50 tournaments and competitions in 21 different sports. For more information, visit www.soct.org.
