Washington, CT - It’s hard to imagine with the blistering cold winds gusting across the mounds of snow that spring is just around the corner. With spring comes warming weather, the pleasure of outside adventures, and the time of school auctions. Many schools from coast to coast including public, parochial and private, embark on the effort of fundraising through auction events.

The objective of auctions is to raise funds to support the school’s development efforts and it’s offerings for the students they serve. Glenholme incorporates their auction into a weekend of enjoyment for families with their event, known as Parents’ Weekend. This year, the event kicks off on Friday, April 30th, with a student choral performance and parent reception; Saturday is an action-packed day on campus overflowing with student-parent events incorporating family fun, healthy competition, and the thrill of a silent auction and tricky-tray bidding. Saturday evening is when the true excitement happens; in an eloquent atmosphere of dining and sharing company with friends, the bidding frenzy can capture the crowd as the bidders seek to win amusement park adventures for their students, spectacular weekend getaways for families, and the coveted “Head of School for a Day.”

The spring auction season is a staple of the annual school fund-raising effort, which has great importance especially during these difficult economic times. Glenholme recognizes that an economically diversified auction event is essential to a successful auction and donations of all values are necessary. The auction is an exciting, socially engaging, charitable event you simply do not want to miss.
