Washington, CT - Autism Speaks cooked up an exciting autism awareness event with their Third Annual Celebrity Chef Gala on October 14 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. Glenholme's Executive Director Maryann Campbell attended the evening at the invitation of Rick and Debbie Doucette, Glenholme Development and Advisory Board chair and board member, and experienced an incredible evening of fine dining and entertainment for a distinguished cause.

Autism Speaks brought together the renowned culinary talents of over 80 of the nation’s foremost chefs to help increase awareness and raise funds for autism research. The Celebrity Chef Gala kicked-off with a cocktail reception where seven chefs served hors d'oeuvres; followed by a formal dinner in the grand ballroom of Cipirani’s, where fifty of the nation's leading chefs prepared and served an exclusive four-course meal for their guests. The dining ambiance included a special performance by musical savant Rex Lewis-Clack, a young boy who has overcome extreme challenges including blindness and autism to create extraordinary music. The four-course dining experience was topped with dessert prepared by 30 renowned pastry chefs from around the nation.

The event also included an exclusive live auction of rare offerings including luxury culinary-themed getaways and private dinner parties by the country’s leading chefs and many other unique items. The Celebrity Chef Gala cooked up an amazing evening for a worthy cause; the result was $1.1 million raised for awareness and advocacy initiatives, and research efforts of Autism Speaks.
