Candlewood Valley Care Center honored Devereux Glenholme students for their enthusiastic visits throughout the school year.
Washington, CT - A surprising fact to many is not so surprising at Glenholme. The fact is students truly enjoy community service involvement. The Community Service Program has maintained the objective to provide a wide array of activities and opportunities that the students can participate in to earn community service credit while honoring the school’s core values.

A task well achieved as traditionally 100% of the student population willingly volunteer in community service efforts during the year. Volunteering not only helps others, it improves self-satisfaction and self-esteem, leadership skills, social skills, the ability to multi-task and much more. During the 2008-2009 school year, students initiated and volunteered for a variety of causes and delivered some spectacular results, raising more than $4,300.00 along with an abundance of tangible items for charity.

It is evident the Glenholme community as a whole has raised the community service bar up a few notches. We look forward to the continuing community service excitement.

Devereux Glenholme is an exceptional boarding school for students with special needs, which offers an individually prescribed learning environment with a steadfast academic curriculum. Using our effective individualized services, we apply a positive behavior support model focused on development of social skills and lifelong strategies for success. The school’s milieu therapy addresses varying levels of academic, social and special needs development in boys and girls ages 10-18 and postgraduates. We prepare graduates for continued education in traditional day schools, boarding schools, colleges and universities.
