Devereux Glenholme Articles
Washington, CT - The Arts is at the heart of Glenholme; it encompasses every facet of student life. The Arts Program combines creative possibilities for students to practice and develop social-emotional skills while experiencing the joy of artistic expression. The program is designed to help further individual treatment plan goals.

The Arts faculty is comprised of professional artist-teachers who bring a wealth of academic and artistic experience in each of their areas of the Glenholme School and its students. They are trained in Theatre Arts, Music, Dance and Instrumental music and have either performing or exhibition background in their art forms.

Those who work in the arts know the positive power it has on children in a myriad of ways. The Glenholme Arts Program and its multi-faceted components aim to enhance the social-emotional development, interpersonal communication and group skills through a variety of art forms, where our young people can perform, excel, and consequently increase self-esteem. As an educational institution serving children with special needs, we have the obligation to provide the opportunity of a well-rounded education.

Devereux Glenholme is an exceptional boarding school for students with special needs, which offers an individually prescribed learning environment with a steadfast academic curriculum. Using our effective individualized services, we apply a positive behavior support model focused on development of social skills and lifelong strategies for success. The school’s milieu therapy addresses varying levels of academic, social and special needs development in boys and girls ages 10-18 and postgraduates. We prepare graduates for continued education in traditional day schools, boarding schools, colleges and universities.
