Washington, CT - The Glenholme School emphasizes the importance of consistency. Family sessions, parent seminars, and parent retreats aim to educate parents on the behavioral techniques of the Glenholme program design. Whether on campus or on-the-road, these opportunities provide valuable information and support for Glenholme families.

This fall, parents will experience a number of exciting changes. The parent curriculum delivered by social workers in monthly family sessions will provide our parents with the same behavior management training as Glenholme staff receive. The redesigned Friday Parent Seminar Series will also launch in the fall and is an excellent opportunity for parents to learn, as well as connect and support one another. The annual Troutbeck Retreat, the weekend long parent-oriented event, is scheduled for November 6 and 7.

Parent seminars and retreats are a time of growth, reflection, relaxation, and learning designed to help Glenholme parents develop a strong working relationship with the school and an understanding of the treatment program. Our outcome studies over the past several years confirm that the greater the degree of consistency between Glenholme’s treatment program and the student’s home, the higher the student’s rate of improvement. Workshops, seminars and family sessions focus on creating a successful Glenholme experience for you and your family.

Devereux Glenholme is an exceptional boarding school for students with special needs, which offers an individually prescribed learning environment with a steadfast academic curriculum. Using our effective individualized services, we apply a positive behavior support model focused on development of social skills and lifelong strategies for success. The school’s milieu therapy addresses varying levels of academic, social and special needs development in boys and girls ages 10-18 and postgraduates. We prepare graduates for continued education in traditional day schools, boarding schools, colleges and universities.
