Kennesaw, GA - On June 1st, Mr. Robert Omohundro of J.P. Turner & Company hosted a charity golf event to help raise books for the P. L. Bealey Smith Library located on the Devereux Georgia campus. The event was held at the beautiful White Columns Country Club in Alpharetta, Georgia. Each golfer was asked to donate books, which were exchanged for mulligans.

The event was a tremendous success! Eighty golfers donated more than 300 books that were on a wish list provided by Mary Whitaker, Devereux Georgia’s media specialist. The books include a variety of interests; everything from the Twilight Series to SAT Prep and History text books. “It is one of the best donations we have ever seen given the ages and reading levels of our youth,” Mary commented.

Devereux was well represented at the event with its own golf team. Ms. Christina Christiansen, school principal, and Ms. Mary Davidson of the Cobb County School District, organized a team of four. “We had lots of fun playing and believe that we made new friends for Devereux,” said Christiana.

Thanks to the generosity of the community we now have stacks of books ready to be shelved in our library!

J. P. Turner & Company is an independent brokerage and banking firm located in Atlanta, Georgia. Ms. Angela Gilmore, an employee of the company, is a long-time volunteer and supporter of Devereux. A special thanks to Angela for her work to make Devereux their charity of choice!
