Washington, CT - The Devereux Glenholme campus is buzzing with the anticipation of their Fifth Annual Parents’ Weekend which is marked by the official groundbreaking for their long awaited Center for the Arts. The Parents’ Weekend event is the school’s single largest fundraising event and the excitement kicks off Friday, May 1st with a student choral performance and reception. Saturday, May 2nd is a fun-filled day for families, students and staff with sporting events, silent auction, lunch, arts, activities and student and staff performances. The afternoon wraps up with the anticipated Center for the Arts groundbreaking ceremony at 2:30 p.m. The Saturday night auction will kick off with delicious food, drink and just maybe... a surprise celebrity guest.

The Center for the Arts will become home to Devereux Glenholme’s theater, art, dance and music programs, one of the most effective treatment modalities for students with special needs. The 199-seat proscenium theater will serve as the one venue on campus with adequate space to accommodate large events and performances in a truly authentic setting. The school’s arts program is a vital, effective and ongoing part of the everyday treatment curriculum. Linked to the Motivational Management System, the arts program impacts each student positively in both artistic skills and social competencies, which is critical in mastering their treatment goals.

The Center for the Arts is an essential component to the school, and provides students with a complete learning environment comparable to other public and private academic settings. To earmark the near finalized fundraising phase for The Center for the Arts construction, the development office is compiling an extraordinary list of auction items for the Saturday evening Parents’ Auction event. The buzz about campus is that Devereux Glenholme anticipates an unprecedented event for their Fifth Annual Parents’ Weekend.

Devereux Glenholme is an exceptional boarding school for students with special needs, which offers an individually prescribed learning environment with a steadfast academic curriculum.
