Washington, CT - The varsity team has two of their regular season games behind them. Much anticipation and excitement remain, as the team continues to ready itself for the remaining four games and a weekend tournament.

The Glenholme Grizzlies tipped off against Woodhall and Rumsey during the January segment of the season. In both matches, the players worked together, transitioned well between offense and defense, supported their teammates and passed effectively. Despite the score, they endeavored to put forth their best effort.

After their second game, a father of a Rumsey player noted how impressed he was with the Glenholme team especially during the second half, as their effort was undiscouraged by the score. He also commented that they played hard and clean, straight through to the end and walked off the court with smiles on their faces.

Working together in group sports benefits the players in so many ways. Such as:
  • Improved mental functioning.
  • Enhanced emotional health.
  • Development of a solid work ethic, discipline and self-control.
  • Facilitate one’s ability to manage adversity and accommodate stress effectively.
  • Teaches planning, problem-solving and strategy implementation.
  • Contributes to the development of good sportsmanship, both in how to win graciously and lose with honor.
No matter what the score of the game or the final win-lose record, the players of the Glenholme basketball team are walking off the court with their heads held high, demonstrating to all of us that honor and teamwork are more important to success than the score.
