Washington, CT - The Devereux Glenholme School’s Responsive Class students of Patricia Tracey, mathematics, and Brian McCauley, social studies, have collected over 100 winter-wearables, from toddler-sized snowsuits to formal winter dress coats, during this holiday season coat drive. They chose Torrington Social Services as this year’s recipient as a result of Torrington Mayor Bingham’s summer visit to the school when he impressed upon them the importance of making a difference as part of the school’s student leadership program.

The Devereux Glenholme students endeavor to make this public service event one that brings warmth to their community. The first coat drive delivery is scheduled just in time for chilly weather of the holiday season and a second is planned for mid-January.

The Devereux Glenholme School is an exceptional boarding school for students with special needs, which offers a meticulously hand-crafted learning environment with a steadfast academic curriculum. Using our effective, individualized services, we apply a positive behavior support model focused on development of social skills and lifelong strategies for success. The school’s milieu therapy addresses varying levels of academic, social and special needs development in boys and girls ages 9-21. We prepare graduates for continued education in traditional day schools, boarding schools, colleges and universities.
