Former Devereux president, Joseph B. Ferdinand passes away.
It is with a deep sense of sadness that we announce the passing of former Devereux president, Joseph B. Ferdinand. Mr. Ferdinand passed away on November 24th following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Ferdinand served as Devereux’s fourth president, from 1975 until 1984, however his service to Devereux began in 1945. He was the last president of Devereux who was hired by and worked directly with our founder, Helena T. Devereux.
He will best be remembered for his leadership during a crucial growth phase of the organization, which included important research completed by our Institute of Clinical Training and Research and the development of Devereux centers, including those in the Poconos, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Georgia. His dedication to our mission is reflected in the numerous treatment opportunities he made available to the children, adolescents and adults whom we have served.
Cards and messages of condolence may be sent to his daughter, Ms. Janet Lamar, 301 Worthington Drive, Exton, PA 19341. Anyone wishing to send memorial contributions may do so to Neighborhood Hospice, 400 East Marshall Street, West Chester, PA 19380. |
