Washington, CT - The Glenholme School hosted its thirteenth annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 15th at 11:00 a.m. at the Garden Center Field on the Glenholme campus!

Each year since 1995, the students and staff of the Glenholme School have planned this seasonal event. The long list of work to be done to get ready for this day becomes part of the daily routine for preparation, this involves the students and the staff on many levels. This is an instructional opportunity for the students and is a large part of their service to the community. Glenholme’s Community Service Program has far reaching experiences, this one is closest to home. As spring nears and the hope for warmer weather becomes daily chatter, rolling up the sleeves takes over to prepare the outdoor area for egg hunting. Glenholme kids fill over 1,000 colorful plastic Easter eggs with candy while others artfully design posters and daintily decorate Easter bags for the little hunters.

Once the starting whistle blows over 100 children, from Washington and beyond, gleefully race through the grounds to search for prizes and candy. The event is incredibly festive with face painting, pictures with the Easter bunny for every family, food and coffee for the weary parents. Entertainment for all surrounds the morning. Everyone fills their baskets and selects their prizes to enjoy at home and once more we point our thoughts to Spring, a time for renewal.

Continuing the spirit of giving, each participating child is asked to bring a canned food item for donation to area food banks, a hit all around.
