Founder's Day Message from President & CEO, Bob Kreider
On the 130th anniversary of the birth of Miss Devereux, the state of Devereux is as strong as it has ever been.
Today, on what would be the 130th birthday of our founder, Helena T. Devereux, I am proud to report that the organization she built 103 years ago is as strong as it has ever been. Equipped with both a strong business model and balance sheet, Devereux emerged from the recent financial crisis poised to embrace the opportunities and challenges that surely await our organization and our industry in the years ahead.
Our outstanding clinical, operational and management staff work every day to ensure Devereux continues to drive excellence and innovation, offering some of the nation’s first, best-practice specialty programs for individuals with the most intense needs, including child victims of sexual exploitation, LGBTQ youth, and transition-aged youth and young adults on the autism spectrum. With renewed strength, Devereux is well positioned for expansion, anticipating future areas of need for individuals and families we serve, as well as continuing to build our reputation as experts on important topics, such as children’s resilience, trauma-informed care, and Positive Behavioral Supports and Interventions.
Our success as an organization is a direct result of the hard work and dedication of each one of our staff members, trustees, advisory board members and donors – and especially our individuals and families whose strengths inspire us.
It was Miss Devereux’s intrepid spirit—her sense of perseverance and pursuit of excellence—that remains deeply embedded in our culture, and continues to drive every aspect of our work. Her focus on providing world class care to individuals and families guides us to this day.
As always, I thank you for adopting Miss Devereux’s life’s work as your own. I am proud of what we’ve accomplished, and am confident Miss Devereux would be, too. I look forward to what lies ahead for this wonderful organization.
Happy Founder’s Day.
