The Cross-Cultural Trap: An immigrant child’s perspective
“Who or what am I to be” This is the question which many children face especially when there is a clash between their birth culture and the American culture. The many facets to this question will be explored from a variety of perspectives.
The scheduled Keynote Address will be presented by Charles Gogolak, former NFL star and Hungarian refugee. He will provide a personal experience approach to immigration. His success will illustrate the contributions made by immigrants. This will be followed by a panel of people who have just come to this country, and professionals who work with immigrants. Gary Bailey, LICSW, Immediate Past President North American Region, International Federation of Social Workers, will close the conference by putting immigration into a global context.
